On this morning in August, Liam walked into the kitchen on his first day of 8th grade to make himself breakfast, still in a slumber. This simple ritual served as one of thousands of reminders for how precious our children, families, friends and communities are, the immense gratitude my family feels for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's role in helping those, like the Merz family, who have fought, are fighting and for those for whom we've lost to cancer.

In the time following Liam's success against Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), our family has become even more focused on our purpose and mission to eliminate cancer. RESEARCH SAVES AND IMPROVES LIVES and Liam is proof of this fact.
